TRANSNATIONAL "PEER LEARNING" IN AGRIGENTO

Updated: Mar 21

Transnational "Peer learning" in Agrigento from 3rd to 7 July, for the BEYOU project. Thanks to the BEYOU project, co-financed by the Erasmus+ programme, a transnational course (peer learning & capacity building) was held from 3rd to 7th July in Agrigento aimed at improving skills in the youth work sector in Europe and at the local level.

The course organized by the Fondazione Comunitaria di Agrigento e Trapani was addressed to youth workers coming from the project partners’ countries that is to say Italy, Greece, Spain, Romania and Cyprus.

The peer learning, based on non-formal learning methodologies, was focused on topics as social generativity, theory of change and project management, thus allowing youth workers to acquire tools, skills and obtain a European certification in order to enrich their daily work with disadvantaged young people and taking part to the "Youth Community Incubators" programme. Within the Youth Incubators, youth workers will coordinate the project ideas presented by young girls and boys at risk of social exclusion in each local context of reference and which will have an important social impact to contribute to the inclusive, green and sustainable development of their communities.

The entire training experience held in Agrigento was enriched by the participation of the colleagues from Farm Cultural Park and Tierra, Techo y Trabajo who, together with youth workers, retraced and shared their working experience and commitment in the area discussing the beautiful opportunities and the challenges encountered on the path towards sustainable local community development led by youth.

The experience of the "Youth Community Incubators" started from Agrigento, tracing together the path towards "Local Youth Incubators", guaranteeing social change led and managed by young people from various communities in Europe.

The BEYOU Project - Boosting sustainability and social change through Youth-led community development is co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, Key Action 3 (European Youth Together).
